The winter season in the Vrátna valley offers many opportunities for mountain lovers – from skiing and snowboarding to ski mountaineering and winter hiking. Besides adrenaline experiences on the slopes, you will also find maintained hiking trails leading to the famous peaks of the Malá Fatra mountains, such as Veľký Kriváň or Chleb. Less demanding hikers can enjoy the beauty of Dolné and Horné diery, which also have their charm in winter.
High Mountain Hiking:
The cable car to Snilovské sedlo is an ideal starting point for winter hikes. From there, you can head to Veľký Kriváň (1709 m above sea level), the highest peak of Malá Fatra, or to Chleb (1647 m above sea level).
Route Snilovské sedlo – Chleb – saddle behind Hromové – Kopiská: A popular circuit with beautiful views. The return is possible via the green trail back to Snilovské sedlo.
Other hiking trails:Jánošíkove diery: Accessible even in winter, with a cleared path from the Podžiar hut.
Poludňový grúň: An excellent choice for less experienced hikers, with a pleasant ascent and panoramic view.
Mojžišove pramene: A shorter, easy route leading to interesting springs in the Malá Fatra nature.
Winter Vrátna thus offers ideal conditions for active relaxation – from leisurely walks to high mountain hikes and sporting adventures.
